I read a lovely story about the Shakers.

The Shakers built the most beautiful furniture and went to great lengths to make every part look perfect. When someone asked a Shaker craftsman why he spent so long working on making the back of a cupboard look as good as the front, when nobody would ever see it, he simply replied, 'God will.'

Not a bad lesson!
